Try an Example MS-Word Download
General Microsoft Word Documents are written using the MS-Word 2002 word processor and stored on the website server. MS-Word is the world’s most used word processing program, as such most computers have a copy of the program installed. Visitors using MS-Word versions prior to 2002 will not be able to download and open these documents. Visitors using Microsoft Works also will not be able to open these documents. In these cases select the HTML download option.
The MS-Word document will be faithful to its original creation and should contain all graphics and features included in the original.
How to Download If you have a copy of MS-Word you can transfer the file stored on the website server to your computer, then open it or save it as the same name or another name of your choosing. The file name will be [filename.DOC]. There are three options that will be presented to you after you click on the MS-Word document link. These options are “Open”, “Save”, and “Cancel”. If you click “Open” your computer will create a new window with your MS-Word program menu system in it and then will download the article into itself. You can then read, manipulate, and save the file using the “save as” feature in MS-Word. If you select the second option “Save” you will be presented with a dialog box which will allow you to transfer and save the document, without starting MS-Word. You can later start MS-Word and then open the file that you have saved. If you select “Cancel” the dialog box will disappear and the transfer of the file will be aborted.
After opening, you can print the document from MS-Word by selecting File-> Print from the menu.
Warning to Microsoft Works Users. The files created and stored on the website server as MS-Word Documents will not be able to be opened by MS-Works programs. Please use the HTML option shown in the adjacent column.
Operation of the Links and Shortcuts The MS-Word Document after downloading will be able to be opened with MS-Word and enjoy all of the editing and formatting options available in MS-Word. However, the shortcuts, links, and Table of Contents shortcut link features built into the HTML document will not be available.
